It wasn’t just that the Grizzlies defeated the Miami Heat on Sunday evening — it was HOW they did it. Those offseason acquisitions of Jerryd Bayless and Wayne Ellington are already paying big dividends. Obviously the team won’t always shoot nearly 60 percent from three, or make 14 three pointers. But the object was to make teams pay for packing the paint and trying to shut down the interior tandem of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph.

In his after game interview, Rudy Gay was reminded that a tough schedule lay ahead: Western Conference Champions The Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday and the surging New York Knicks. And while Rudy respects their upcoming opponents, he says that wins like the one over Miami show that they’re a force to be reckoned with themselves:
