Seems like only yesterday that we were basking in the euphoria of The Memphis Grizzlies making the Western Conference Finals — right before that vaguely familiar feeling of getting swept by the San Antonio Spurs.
While players spend the summer working on their games, the Grizzlies Front Office stays busy trying to improve the team. Chip Crain and I sat down with two of the Grizz’ “Big Three” — Vice President of Basketball Operations John Hollinger and Director of Player Personnel Stu Lash. In Part One of this sprawling interview (with more to come later this week), we find out how John and Stu approached their first draft as executives, and what they think they’re getting with Griz rooking Jamal Franklin.
In Part Two, we’ll find out what they expect from Grizz newcomers Nick Calathes and Kosta Koufos, and how close they think the team is to improving on its best-ever season. Stay tuned!
