Welcome to theNBA and American basketball Hamed Haddadi.
I realize that it wasn’t the ‘real’ NBA but merely the NBA Development League but everyone has to start someplace and last night in Bsmark, North Dakota Hamed Haddadi officially began his NBA experience by scoring 14 points on 5-11 shooting and 4-6 from the line and also grabbed 6 rebounds in only 21 minutes of action. Throw in a blocked shot and an assist while committing only 1 turnover and you have a pretty decent start to the career of the first Iranian to play in the NBA be it the Development League or not.
If there was a disappointing side it was that Haddadi didn’t start the game but with onlya few days of practice with the team that isn’t terribly surprising. The Wizards started William Frisby, a 6-8 center from the University of Miami, but he was unimpressive in that role. On the opposite side Courtney Sims paced Iowa with 23 pts and 12 rebounds from the Center position. It was unclear however who was responsible for the majority of that production.
The Dakota Wizards play again on Wednesday morning at 11:00 am.
