Rudy Gay announced today that he is hosting a charity basketball supporting his charitable foundation on Nov. 8th at the DeSoto Civic Center. Tipoff is scheduled at 7:30 pm. Tickets go on sale at 10:00 am Wednesday at the DeSoto Civic Center or by calling 1-800-745-3000.
It’s not exactly the NBA but Zach Randolph, O J Mayo, John Wall, Kevin Durant and Josh Smith have already said they will be participating. Hopefully more of the Grizzlies will sign on as well.
Rudy’s Charity is the Flight 22 Foundation. The foundation’s goal is to raise funds for childhood education.
“I’ve played in several exhibition games over the past few weeks and have always wanted to bring my own game to the Memphis area which can raise money for charity, said Gay. It will be fun to gather some of the great names in the NBA to play a competitive game that the crowd will enjoy. More importantly, I’m excited that well be able to create childhood educational opportunities in the Memphis area which is a cause I strongly support.”
