Tonight the Grizzlies look to close out the first round playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers at 8:30 PM and if you don’t have tickets, be prepared to take a bath on the price as the game has been a sellout since Monday morning and obviously prices on the ticket exchanges are sky high.

Tonight, the Beale Street Music festival is kicking off on the river and if you want to attend that event be prepared to take a bath as well. Rain is in forecast for the entire day and throughout the evening’s festivities. Not just a light misting rain either — ‘Memphis in Mud’ will be the name of the music festival tonight not Memphis in May. The Beale Street Music Festival always seems to be rained on. It’s like the two are associated with each other.

There have been numerous things that have been associated with Memphis basketball over the years, but none are as seemingly perfectly suited as Grizzlies playoff games and the Beale Street Music festival. Great basketball, great music and a great location in downtown Memphis means businesses on Beale Street won’t be singing the blues tonight. The place should be rocking in spite of the rain.

Of course, that also means parking spots will be at a premium and if you are planning on attending either event or going anyplace else downtown, you should be prepared to struggle to find a spot. Please plan ahead and, unlike the fans of the Los Angeles team stopping into the FedEx Forum tonight, don’t get road rage if you can’t find a spot close to where you are going.

Typical Memphis parking job

Arrive early and anticipate problems, especially in finding a parking spot. This is a great night to represent the Grizzlies and Memphis on the national stage. Let’s show the world how great our fans are in overcoming obstacles like rain, no parking, and West Coast Floppers.
