Shortly after the Grizzlies Game 7 loss to the Clippers, I grabbed my cameras and Chip grabbed a seat across from Pete Pranica, who does the play-by-play call for Grizzlies games, usually with Sean Tuohy or Brevin Knight. In Part 1 of this clip, Pete talks about how he got started as an NBA announcer, why it’s easier to announce a blowout win for the home team, and how he and Sean Tuohy bonded after the sudden death of his beloved predecessor Don Poier in 2005.

Special thanks to Pete, Griz P.R. man Ross Wooden and the Grizzlies organization for granting us access. We hope to bring you more features like this in the offseason. Check back soon for Part 2 of this interview with Pete Pranica!

Lol I initially missed the part about “check back for part 2″ and was thinking “Why in the world would Chip and the guys end the interview like that??”

Great stuff Chip. Pete is such a genuine guy … I feel fortunate to have someone of his caliber at the helm of our play by plays. I think he does a great job during the wins and the losses.
