According to Ron Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal, sources within the Grizzlies organization say that Lionel Hollins’ time as Grizzlies head coach has come to an end.

Much more still to be known, of course, and we’ll all find out his destination soon.

Dave Joerger time? George Karl time?

Who knows, but it sure would be nice to have the coach in place for the draft, now wouldn’t it?

Stay tuned for updates as events warrant. We now return you to your regularly scheduled pontification about the Finals, some 18-year-old Greek phenom, etc., etc…

While it is a sad day to see Hollins go, the decision had to be made for the new administration to move forward with their plans. Re-hiring Hollins would have only maintained the gap between their vision of the future and Hollins desire to hold onto the past.

VERY disappointing . . . once more info comes out, it will probably make sense, but it just feels as though these people could have worked things out. Eh. I like Coach Hollins A LOT. Ouch.
