I was listening to Chris Vernon at lunchtime today and happened to catch him mentioning that Hamed Haddadi apparently showed up to sign his new contract while wearing a cast on his right hand. Apparently, he had elective surgery on his hand to repair ligament and tendon damage that occurred prior to him starring in the Olympics and then signing with the Grizzlies 4 years ago. He is expected to be ready for training camp in a few months.

Haddadi’s contract is rumored to be a 2-year deal with the first year fully guaranteed and the second year partially guaranteed. The good news is that the Iranian big man stayed here in the U.S. this offseason, and hopefully will not have any of the immigration issues that have plagued him the last few seasons.

So…no real news, but it was a great excuse to run this picture of him with that awesome mustache. He needs to grow that thing back for this season.

Ha! the mustache is awesome! Almost looks like a candidate for most interesting man alive! “I don’t always run the floor full speed. But when I do, I’m blocking everybody’s shots!”
