For the first time in his career, Marc Gasol was named NBA Player of the Week in the Western Conference.
The honor comes after Marc averaged 19.8 points per game, 9.8 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists and 2.5 blocks in leading the Grizzlies to a perfect 4-0 mark. Gasol had three double-doubles for the week while shooting 67.3% in the four games.
Gasol didn’t lead the Grizzlies in shooting for the week. That honor fell to Mike Conley who shot 69.6% over the four games. The Grizzlies as a team were red hot shooting the ball averaging 63% from the field during the first half last week.
Marc joins his brother Pau and Zach Randolph as the only Grizzlies to win Player of the Week honors for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies hope to improve their season high 6 game winning streak tonight at Golden State.
