The Grizzlies moved to 2-1 in the pre-season with a win against Atlanta Sunday evening

It was a peculiar pre-season game since the team basically played a 10 Man Rotation of the starting 5, Jerryd Bayless, Mo Speights, Quincy Pondexter, Wayne Ellington and Hamed Haddadi. Wroten, Selby and non-guaranteed contracts saw basically no action.

I saw a note about the Knicks' latest preseason game where an assistant coach informed Mike Woodson at halftime that he hadn't played Chris Copeland -- one of the few players trying to make the 15-man roster still -- at all in the game. Woodson recognized this, inserted him into the game and saw Copeland rally the bench players to a win. I think that is the kind of thing most fans expect to see in the third preseason game -- not a regular season style rotation. Fans want to see young players who did well in Summer League, like Selby and Wroten, in order to judge how well they'll fit in with the framework of the team.

I try not to question Hollins' coaching methods since he has been the team's most successful coach in the franchise's history. I just hope he has seen enough of the younger guys in training camp and in practice to know whether they deserve playing time. If they cannot get on the floor in "meaningless" preseason games, that doesn't really bode well for them being significant contributors once the regular season begins.

thought it pleasantly odd that Jordan saw his first floor time of the game late in the fourth with the Griz trying to hold onto a slim-getting-slimmer lead. I liked it. Not to disparage the cult, but Haddadi is, well, not quite there. he's huge, and he's been around...and I get the reasons for him being around...but I think Jordan would be no more of a liability and his athletic ability would give him the chance to eclipse what Hamed is and has been able to do on the court.
