ESPN, fresh off naming the Memphis Grizzlies as the #1 overall franchise in professional sports, is now tackling the players of the NBA ranking from 1-500. So far three Grizzlies have already been named with Josh Arkognon, Jon Leuer and Jamal Franklin all rated in the sub 350 group.

Should be interesting to see how the rest of the team grades out.

Rankings so far:
484 - Akognon
457 - Reed
389 - Leuer
385 - Franklin
321 - Calathes
211 - Miller
210 - Pondexter
192 - Prince
156 - Davis
150 - Koufos
146 - Bayless

The rankings are different this season, as they are intended to predict this season's performance, versus illustrate who had a better year last year. So according to the ranking, Prince will produce the most this season at the 3 for us -- can't say I disagree.

Now we're at the 150 point, which is an interesting place to be at in the rankings. With 30 teams in the league and 5 guys starting per team, 150 is a very loose descriptor of "starter" level. So according to #NBARank, Bayless and Koufos are in theory pretty darn good backups. Similarly, at 156, Ed Davis is on the cusp. Of course, depth at the players' respective position skews this take, but interesting nonetheless.

Steve, by the same math, anyone in the top 270 should be considered a true rotation player as that would crack most teams top nine.

Which would mean that we've got 10 of 'em.

Speaking of the number 10, how about Mr. Marc Gasol's #10 ranking?
