Talked to Ed Davis before tonight’s game against the Phoenix Suns. Check it out.
Q: You are 3-5 right now here at FedEx Forum. What do you guys need to work on to defend the home court?
Davis: We just got to play hard for 48 minutes that’s the main thing. Can’t play good for two quarters. We just got to have four good quarters together.
Q: You’ve been playing with the starters lately. Do you like working with the starters or does it matter what rotations you are in?
Davis: I just like helping the team however that’s gonna be. If it’s starting or coming off the bench or however it is. Wherever I can help the team.
Q: Do you feel that there are chemistry problems with the team right now?
Davis: I wouldn’t say it’s chemistry but when you two All-Stars out you’re gonna lose something especially Marc Gasol what he does offensively and defensively and then you have Z-Bo being out you know he’ll give you 18 and 12 a night so obviously you’re losing something there but I wouldn’t say chemistry is our worry but I say you’re losing a lot of production.
Q: What are you working on personally and what are the coaches asking you to work on?
Davis: Mainly to set screens, roll to the basket, defend the rim, play defense, and rebound.
Q: What are you preparing on for Phoenix tonight?
Davis: We got to slow down transition. I think they are top 3 in the league in fast break points so that and protecting the ball. We got to slow down Dragic and Bledsoe.
Q: How are the Tar Heels going to be this year? Is this a rebuilding year?
Davis: I wouldn’t say rebuilding year. Up and down year, beat Louisville then lose to UAB. It hurts to lose Leslie McDonald, a Memphis guy, and PJ so those two are flat our scorers so it hurts losing them two but hopefully we can get them back and be ready to roll.
The Memphis Grizzlies will face the Phoenix Suns tonight at FedEx Forum at 7 P.M. Tickets still available at Grizzlies.com.
