Haddadi Sporting Cast On Right Hand

I was listening to Chris Vernon at lunchtime today and happened to catch him mentioning that Hamed Haddadi apparently showed up to sign his new contract while wearing a cast on his right hand. Apparently, he had elective surgery on his hand to repair ligament and tendon damage that occurred prior to him starring in the Olympics and then signing with the Grizzlies 4 years ago. He is expected to be ready for training camp in a few months.

Conley brings the ball up court. He passes to Gasol who is immediately double teamed. Gasol looks for Randolph but he is covered as well. He looks to Gay but he is covered. Tony Allen or O J Mayo is open on the perimeter, but Gasol knows better than to give Allen the ball at the 3 point line and Mayo usually has token coverage so Gasol passes back to Conley who either a) dribbles [...]

Ok, I’m finally going to stop being lazy and get on with third one of these. We’re going with Marc in the third spot because he was an all-star last year, and has established himself as an elite center, so I thought he deserved billing over Conley and Allen, even though they both bring quite a bit to the table as well.

Grizzlies’ press release:

The Memphis Grizzlies re-signed center Hamed Haddadi, Grizzlies General Manger and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The first Iranian ever to play in the NBA, Haddadi (7-2, 265) averaged 2.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and a career-high 0.74 blocks in 5.9 minutes in 35 games for Memphis last season. The 27-year-old also set a personal best by shooting .542 from the field.

The Commercial Appeal is reporting that prospective owner Robert Pera is actively seeking local ownership in his bid to purchase the Memphis Grizzlies. Could this signal a strong desire on his part to keep them in the Bluff City for the foreseeable future?
