Pierce joined the Grizzlies prior to the 2011-12 NBA season under Lionel Hollins as a player development coach, to fill the void left by Damon Stoudamire. Pierce was initially going to remain on Coach Joerger’s staff, but after receiving consideration for the lead gig in Philadelphia, he decided to join newly minted head coach Brett Brown there instead.
At the State of the Franchise address on Saturday, Joerger mentioned that the he will be filling out his coaching staff within the week.
