The last six days have been crazy, to say the least. At one point on Wednesday I even went so far as to say this:

I stand corrected. After everything that happened this week, I really didn’t believe there was any way that Dave Joerger could remain the coach of the Memphis Grizzlies. Apparently, I was wrong.

Despite having interviewed with Flip Saunders and owner Glen Taylor over the last three days, Joerger has apparently turned down an offer to be the next head coach in Minnesota, opting to stay in Memphis instead.

Initially there were two takes on this. Either Joerger had considered the task of moving his family to Minnesota to take over a team positioned for a rebuild and declined the challenge, or Memphis/Pera/Minnesota are about to play a game of chicken over compensation. Here is what the Grizzlies beat writer has to say about the situation. The Minnesota writers, in particular, seemed sure that Joerger was still headed to the TWolves, but only after the Grizzlies fired him.

Then, Robert Pera took to Twitter and assured everyone that he and Joerger are on the same page and that Joerger *will* be the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies this fall.

The full Q&A can be found here. Time will tell if that holds true, but everyone in Memphis – including on both sides of the Joerger/Pera dynamic – are saying the right things.

Stay tuned to 3 Shades Of Blue for more as we learn it!
