The 4 game road trip that starts Wednesday night could produce great rewards for the Grizzlies. To start with, the game against Golden State on Friday could be for the 6th place in the standings, considering the Grizzlies should beat Utah Wednesday evening. Winning the Jazz game and the Warriors games would mean that the Grizzlies and Warriors would have the same record. The Grizzlies would win the series 3-1 and that is the first tie-breaker. The 2nd tie-breaker with the Warriors is better division record and the Warriors would have that advantage over the Grizzlies.
Tonight, Dallas plays the Thunder at home. At loss by the Mavs would mean that the Grizzlies have a two game edge in the lost column over Dallas. That is good considering that Dallas has a slightly harder schedule left than Memphis. Golden State has an easier schedule left with SoS only being 0.493 and playing only 4 playoff teams including the game with Memphis.
The understatement is that with only 11 or 12 games left for every team in contention in the West, every game is important.
Below is a table that shows the remaining schedule for the 1st to 9th position in the West. Enjoy. Let me know if you see errors in this.
