We had hoped that the Grizzlies would be higher than 8th, a funny thing happened on the way to this week’s standings. The Suns, Mavericks and Warriors all pulled off upsets on Sunday evening against teams we hoped would beat them. Then the Mavs won again on Monday night, but the Suns lost.
Since Dallas keeps winning, even games we would hope and expect them to lose, and since they have the tie-breaker over the Grizzlies, that last game of the year could determine who gets the 6th or 7th place.
The number of loses is important as we are dependent on other teams to lose for the Grizzlies to gain on that. The good news is the Grizzlies are 2 games up in the lost column on the Suns, tied with the Mavs and only one down to the Warriors. The Grizzlies have a 2-1 winning record against Golden State with one more game at their place on Mar. 28. Win that, and we have the tie-breaker over them. Otherwise, the 2nd tie-breaker is better division record and the Warriors would have that advantage over the Grizzlies.
Below is a table that shows the remaining schedule for 1st to 9th position for the Western Conference. Enjoy. Let me know if you see errors in this.
