Matt Dollinger @SI points out, “In the 22 games since Marc Gasol’s return from a knee injury, the Grizzlies are allowing a league-low 90.3 points and ranking third in defensive rating (96.8).”
Stein @ESPN has some positive words about Coach Joerger.
CBS Sports has a good analysis of the 6th to 10th seeds in the West. They don’t think highly of the Grizzlies in the rankings. Their opening comments says of the Grizzlies, “This veteran team blew apart the first month of the season but has played the best of any team since Jan. 1. Memphis has gotten big boosts from roster changes, including James Johnson and Courtney Lee. A rough schedule stretch quelled some momentum, but this team has the veteran experience, defensive acumen and talent to hang. With a mixed strength-of-schedule in March, the Grizzlies have a chance to push back into the spot of a team above them … if they can stay healthy, their biggest struggle.”
Uncertainty about how good the Grizzlies are is shown this week from a high ranking of 8, 3 @ 9 and the low of 16.
Average ranking for the week is 11.09 down a point from last week’s 10.18. (Actual not included in average.)
