So hey… the Grizzlies put a whooping on the Thunder yesterday! Sure it’s only a exhibition, but it all feels good just the same, right? Anywho, they take the court again this afternoon to face a Detroit Pistons squad headlined by Peyton Siva, Tony Mitchell, NBA Castaway, Brian Cook (yes, him) and the sharpshooting 2013 lottery pick Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
The good guys were led in game one by rookie shooting guard Jordan Adams out of UCLA, who put on a clinic display of his efficient scoring abilities, knocking in 22 points on just 12 shots by way of letting it fly from deep (4-6 3pt) as well as leveraging contact into free throw opportunities (8-8 FT). His killer performance was not just limited to the offensive end, however, as he managed to reek havoc and amass 4 steals on the evening. For some of his teammates that may not have shown out the way that they would have liked to, the quick turnaround into today’s matinee has not afforded them much time to lament their play, so one would hope there to be little to no residual effects on those guys going forward with the week.As for Detroit, their talent pool is not too shabby itself, especially with KCP already having led the way for all Orlando scorers with 26 smackaroos in the first day of this Summer League season.
If you missed it on the holiday, take a deeper look at the Grizzlies’ summer team, and be sure to check back tomorrow afternoon as we recap the weekend that was, in Orlando.
Lastly, be sure to give me a shout on Twitter @StevieDanziger, as I break down the rest of these games in real time!
