It’s human nature. We rate and grade everything. We measure our performance and others’ based upon arbitrary, imperfect scales and analysis. I don’t know why we do it, but we love to do it, which is why I am giving you the Grizzlies schedule pick ‘em below. How will they measure up this year?
Game by game, I select the winner for the 2014-2015 season and show you where I see the Grizzlies ending the regular season. You can call me “the Simulator.” I simulate the season standings for you. Then we have arbitrary expectations for us to follow and set our hopes on. Deal? I’m sure the coaching staff loves me!
Clearly, this is speculative. It does not factor in potential injuries, suspensions, and abnormal occurrences that will happen this season.
I know you will disagree with me; however, I’m more than happy to listen to your compelling arguments as to why you’re right and I’m wrong. But, who are we kidding, I’m never wrong!!
So, here it goes.
The Memphis Grizzlies 2014-2015 season will shape up in this way.
October 2014: Overall- 2-0; Home- 1-0; Road- 1-0 Season 2-0
29th- vs MIN – Win. For the first time ever, the Grizzlies will win their season opener. Plan the Parade now!
31st- @ IND – Win. The Grizzlies will start their season on the road with a win too, solidifying a historic perfect 2-0 October record. Spooky indeed.
November 2014: Overall- 11-4; Home- 7-0; Road- 4-4 Season: 13-4
1st- @ CHA – Win. Born Ready meets Air Canada and the Hornets gets punished by the Grizzlies.
3rd- vs NOP – Win. 2nd home game of the season? Omer Asik and Unibrow are no match for The Grindfellas s/o @gurleygirl
5th- @ PHX – Loss. Only because you can’t win them all.
7th- @ OKC – Loss. But this will be a last minute nail biting victory for OKC. Maybe even OT?
8th- @MIL – Win. Sorry, Jabari.
11th- vs LAL – Win. Kobe is tentative and mentally weak since his achilles injury happened in the Grindhouse. #Memories
13th- vs SAC – Win. Rudy will try too hard (again) and DMC plays frustrated, sending the Kings away empty handed.
15th- vs DET – Win. Stan Van Gundy will get them there, but they’re not quite on the level of the Grizzlies.
17th- vs HOU – Win. Parsons leaving leaves a void, but they got Ariza to take his spot yet Tayshaun shuts him down.
19th- @ TOR – Loss. Toronto loves beating their ex neighbors in Canada. They’re pretty good too. My Eastern sleeper team.
21st- vs BOS – Win. Does anyone know what Boston (Danny Ainge) is trying to do right now?
23rd- vs LAC (My 30th birthday) – Win. Sentimental reasons. No way my Grizz let me down on my 30th, right?

5th- vs SAS – Loss. It’s the Spurs man. It will be a close game, but dang it, Spurs.
7th- vs MIA – Win. Bosh/Deng/Wade are no match for Gasol/Qpon/TA or…whoever.
9th- vs DAL – Win. Dallas still hasn’t figured out who needs the ball in the clutch and too many ball hogs kill their chemistry.
12th- vs CHA – Win. Charlotte is getting better, but still not able to overpower the Grizzlies front court.
13th- @ PHI – Win. Have they figured out their D-league roster from their NBA roster yet?
16th- vs GSW – Win. We are their kryptonite. At this point, Steve Kerr is making Mark Jackson look good.
17th- @ SAS – Loss. Ugh. Spurs.
19th- vs CHI – Loss. Pau, Noah & DRose (will he still be playing?) get it together and edge the Grizzlies in a close one.
21st- @ CLE – Loss. This will end our worst losing streak of the season at 3 games. Bad timing heading into the Holidays.

8th- vs ATL – Loss. Hawks beat the Grizzlies during a 8 game win streak.
10th- vs BRK – Win. Lionel’s return to the Grindhouse. You really think the Grizzlies will let up?
11th- @ OKC – Loss. Thunder are good on their home court, and for some reason, the Grizzlies are not good on the road.
ALL STAR BREAK
22nd- @ POR – Loss. Too long of time away and the Grizzlies aren’t ready after the All-Star Break.
23rd- @ LAC – Loss. Clippers capitalize on the Grizzlies no rest plus, they’re just really good.
25th- @ SAC – Win. After a night of rest, the Grizzlies get back to their winning ways and steal one in Sac-town.

March 2015: Overall- 10-7; Home- 6-2; Road- 4-5 Season- 49-26
3rd- vs UTA – Win. “Everybody’s hands go up!” Or is there a new song this season?

6th- vs HOU – Loss. Houston is streaky, but the Grizzlies still can’t defend the 3.
7th- @ NOP – Loss. Pelicans will be scary good and may finish ahead of Houston. Legit threat.
9th- @ CHI – Win. Just feels like we will edge them out in this one. I don’t know why. Trust the gut.
11th- @ BOS – Win. Conley with the game winner.
12th- @ WAS – Loss. Wall/Pierce/Beal combine for 70. Grizzlies are tired. 7th game in 9 days. It ain’t getting lighter.
