Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis Grizzlies Head Coach Dave Joerger will test his skills on a different baseline when he faces the No. 2 American on the ATP World Tour Sam Querrey in a game of “Play the Pro” on Monday, Feb. 10 at 4 p.m. at the Racquet Club of Memphis.
Joerger was an avid tennis player and fan before he hung up his racket and took to the NBA hardwood full-time, playing now in the NBA off-seasons. His opponent Querrey, however, knows no off-season and currently holds the 6th seed in the ongoing U.S. National Indoor Championships (Feb. 8 -16) at the Racquet Club of Memphis, a tournament he won in 2010. The U.S. National Indoor Championships have also crowned past champions Andy Roddick and Tommy Haas. Media who wish to attend this event must check in at the Racquet Club’s press room and will be escorted to the practice court.
The Grizzlies will continue to celebrate the tournament by hosting a number of tennis pros at Tuesday’s matchup with the Washington Wizards. The pros will take a break from serving aces to watch the Grizzlies dish assists and will participate in on-court contests including hitting tennis balls into the crowd and free throw contests.
