The 2014 NBA draft is just hours away, and although rumors are swirling of a Tayshaun Prince swap sending the 22nd overall pick on it’s merry way to Toronto, for the time being the Grizzlies are slated to select in the first round for the first time since they took Tony Wroten back in 2012.
Over the past week, the 3 Shades of Blue team has been mulling the prospects and compiling its ultimate big board. Below we have embedded the 3 Shades of Blue Master Big Board; an aggregation of the composite rankings of the top 30 available prospects in this year’s draft by each of Chip Crain, Matt Noe, Zach Thomas, Jonathan May, Josh Coleman, and myself.
For those unfamiliar with the terminology, the Big Board differs from a mock draft in that it simply ranks the prospects in terms of an overall evaluation of their talent/potential, rather than attempting to predict where each player will be drafted. In theory, this practice is flexible in that it should hold regardless of draft position. So for example, if the Grizzlies trade up into the early first round, by some grace of glory, the top remaining player on each writer’s board would be their resulting preferred selection.
I’ll maintaining this Big Board as the night goes on and the picks filter in, so be sure to check back in to see who we’ve got left!
For me, it’s off to the Barclays Center now, so give me a shout on Twitter @StevieDanziger to stay up to date with any live draft happenings. Also, don’t forget to stay tuned with the entire 3 Shades of Blue team with the list, Team 3SOB.
