This is what #hoopcity lives for, playoff basketball. For the 4th consecutive year in a row, Memphis will be hosting two first round playoff games at FedexForum. Entertaining 18,119 people during those games is not an easy task. Outside of the play on the court, the Memphis Grizzlies game ops crew led by Jason Potter manages to thrill and excite the crowd at just the right moment every game. There is an art to doing it.

When you combine 18,000 Growl towels, Grizz’s theatrics, the Kings of the Court, Musical anthems, the National Anthem, Rick Trotter’s electrifying voice, Jerry “the King” Lawler dropping the strap, indoor pyro, surprise guests and the Grizz Girls, “The Show” provides an addictive high, that regardless of the game’s outcome, keeps you coming back for more and more and more each year. Let’s call it a chronic ritual.

Here are the stories I wrote on a few people who create the best game experience in the NBA. Read up on them before stepping into the Grindhouse for games 3 & 4.

It’s playoff time Memphis. GROWL TOWELS UP!
